It was in November last year. I was in Pittsburgh with some of the best people I met in my life. One of our friends got a job and we celebrated at a Thai restaurant (I’m bad with the names of the restaurants which I think is okay :)) in Downtown. Some of us including me took an Uber to reach the place. After a while, we started the conversation with the driver as I was feeling bored (I usually don’t feel bored but I love to pretend so just because I can listen to stories of strangers).

He is an American, working for a bank in the Credit Card Securities department. We spoke random things about thanksgiving parties and other stuff as it was the end of November. After a while, I got curious about his job and asked him some weird questions just to pass the time in a non-routine way. (Don’t you think routine is lethal?)

I asked him what happens if people make purchases with their credit card and later on claim that they lost it and the card is misused. I was genuinely curious because I’ve always felt customers are trusted more by American businesses (as an Indian it’s always surprising to me)

The immediate question he asked was “Have you ever done that?“, in a cool tone.

I was tempted to lie, “Yes, but without leaving any traces!”, but then I thought of possible questions that might follow my answer and said "No". Moreover, it was Thanksgiving and I was in no mood to get into any kind of routine. So, I instead said, “No, but just curious to know”.

He then said, “If it were a major purchase, we would take care and perform a thorough check by monitoring camera recordings”. I nodded and we continued to discuss food and Christmas celebrations in Pittsburgh.

When we got down, I felt a suspicious eye had followed us until we disappeared from its vicinity. I then heard some cop cars behind us and I felt a quick shiver down my spine. Okay, now I’m making up my random stories which are completely senseless.

We parted our ways after a nice conversation and I rated him with 5 stars for entertaining us with interesting stories.
