Where do Almonds come from?

From Almond tree, of course! But have you ever seen the tree or the raw almonds? If not, below is a picture from Gardener's Path for you.

What is the best way to eat Almonds?

Soak them in the water for 6-8 hours. It helps them soften and makes them easy to eat for all age groups. If you want to make them tastier, peel their skin off. Once soaked, Almonds peel off so easily.

A quick milkshake recipe:

  • Soak 20 almonds for 7-8 hours

  • Remove their peel and grind them to a fine paste

  • Take a cup of boiled and cooled down milk

  • Add the Almond paste and some honey

Viola! The quickest and healthiest milkshake ever! Try it out and let me know in the comments if you like it.

Why is soaking the Almonds (and most of the nuts) a big deal?

Most of the seeds, pulses come with some sort of antinutrients or nutritional inhibitors. They minimize the body's ability to absorb essential nutrients. When soaked in water, they are absorbed into the water. Hence, making the nuts/pulses/grains easily available for absorption of nutrients.
